Hi all..I need help in locating a good source for bare root river birches grown in zones 5 or lower. Originally, I had planned to order from a local nursery, with a 20 foot tall 3 limbed specimen costing $200 and less for shorter specimens. Unfortunately, they truck their birches in from Arkansas and Tennessee. A neighbor's river birch, planted last Spring and from the same nursery, has suffered many weather related casualties and has become a sad disfigured tree in a short time. I am hoping to avoid the same results and would appreciate any assistance. Thanks in advance!
