Oh yes get pics
we love pics
congratulations on becoming a farmer.
Have you gone to the poultry forum ? yet
good place to go
what else are you thinking to raise ?

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well, I gotta talk hubby into 'more' than what I told him i wanted to do LOL.
Were gonna start with chickens no doubt and then maybe some goats and rabbits.
We can't do anything huge..but weve talked about raising some beef and a pig.
Were getting sick of seeing all the recalls on T.V.... it's getting scary.
Were also growing our own stuff. Corn, Okra..etc.
Basically the normal stuff.. but I've got an idea for a home based business. Can't talk about that yet, lol.
Wow..look at all the W's, LOL!
I'll find some pictures ASAP.

Im wanting to do everything as organic as possible, if hubby will agree. LOL

Have you gone to the organic garden forum. Maybe that will help. ? convince him :)
My DH isn't a oranic type either ,but since he isn't the one digging the holes , he has no say. Dig holes and i will give you an opinion.
Yes that is scary on the meat recalls
we have a thread on it somewhere that Darius started .
Your going to keep us all waiting on your idea ? ! Oh that torture for us here in DG :( we love to hear good ideas ! :)
ok i will be patient .....tap tap tap .......... still waiting ...... LOL just kidding
sounds great what your doing , you 'll feel better too with eating healthy organic food .

This is the backyard. See towards the back of the photo that drops off a cliff.
There is a matching tree directly across from the one with the wagon wheel. Same size and basically the same shape.
This will be DH daddies memory garden. Then towards the back will be his mothers.

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

K it wont let me post any more??
I'll try again later, lol.

Paris, TN(Zone 6b)

Beautiful! Love your tent too ;)

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

What kind of fruit trees do you have? And do you tent camp? We do and we love it.

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

When we go to the smokies we camp, that tent was used for storage until we built the shed. lol
We's rednecks, hehehe.

We have apples, pears, peaches and cherries. Not sure what else. The japanese beetles usually get the crops though. :-(
And the wcedar waxwings eat all the cherries. I really started hating those birds year before last.
I ran outside with a broom screaming and trying to beat them, took all of 5 seconds and they had eaten ALL our cherries!!! That's hundreds of cherries. :-(

LOL, gotta "love" nature sometimes!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Could you put nets on the trees? Maybe some of those blow up owls and fake snakes in the trees might help.

none of ur business, OK(Zone 5b)

That is such a shame on your cherries
yes birds are a love hate thing with me. Love to look at them ( not starlings hate them ) but when it comes to my garden they eat it .
lol

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

I will ask Hillis if he'll net the trees. lol, stupid smart birds.
love hate is a definate yes, LOL.

Easton, KS(Zone 5b)

Gosh, crimsontsavo, the pictures of your farm are beautiful. I'm so jealous of your fruit trees! Maybe if you get some guinea fowl, they will eat up all those beetles.

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Weve been thinking about that Beth.
I hate those birds but they are a great tick eater, LOL.
Just so loud. They'd run the cottonmouths off though.
Ya talked me into it! (LOL)

Thanks. hehe

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

Trust me, they will not run off the Cottonmouth's, lol.. I have lot's of guineas and lots of Cottonmouth's...

Larkie

Easton, KS(Zone 5b)

crimsontsavom ,
Yes, they are loud and ugly, but they really do have unique personalities. And at night, when they are settling in to sleep, they make sweet little peeping sounds.

I have named the Guineas which really stand out in the crowd - Blanche, she is the white one, of course. Dusty, he is a very light lavender, and then we have Darth Vader - the nearly black Guinea!

They really do grow on you. They get along fine with my chickens. And they are worth their weight in gold for the chiggers and ticks that they eat!

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well, darn it. I was hoping theyd chase the cottonmouths off. lol
They'd be worth gettting for the ticks too though. lol

Bet we could find some at the market for pretty cheap, theyre popular birds.

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ohh did you know they l,ike looking at thier reflections? LOL!!

http://www.guineafowl.com/fritsfarm/guineas/reflections/

Easton, KS(Zone 5b)

Yes, they think they are very good looking! Whenever I wash my car, they can see themselves reflected in the windshield and they jump up on it to admire themselves.

I don't wash my car too often because of that alone!

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL!!!

none of ur business, OK(Zone 5b)

that is funny lol

Crossville, TN

I love your land...What creek runs through your property. My DS lives on Daddy's Creek...It is much bigger than our San Pedro River. Jo

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Tankies RR!!

I don't think it has a name, not any that i know of anyway lol.
There are so many creeks around here you just wouldnt imagine lol.
Ill ask Hillis if it has a name though.

Crossville, TN

I may come that way in October this year...I hope to get with you for sure this time. Jo

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

I insist that you do come! lol
Weve missed each other like twice already LOL.

Crossville, TN

Have your tea kettle ready!! LOL Jo

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)
