I would like to know if a person can take starts of an established clematis. My mother has several that bloom off of new wood. She prunes them to the ground each winter and spring rewards her with the largest deep purple blooms.
Hi- I have a beautiful Jackmani that is at least 25 years old and HUGE. A few years ago I had to trim it way back to paint the side of the house, I built a sturdy trellis that is out from the siding about 10 inches and planted hosta all around the base to shade the roots. It has done so well and I get so many complements on it. I would love to propagate this and have heard that it is possible to nick a stem and put a zip lock bag with potting soil around it. Is this possible? My friend said to get the soil medium really wet and keep it shaded until it roots. Has anyone heard of doing this? How long does it take? Thanks for any help. Kathy
