As a first time rose grower, with dreams of wonderful roses dancing through my head like a child on Christmas morning waiting for wonderful gifts, I was unaware of the possibility of rose diseases. I visited my local garden center recently and mentioned to the woman, who works hard to make sure I don't make beginners mistakes in the garden, that I recently purchased three dozen or so roses at a local big box store. Patiently, she explained that I would need to start a spray program.
She showed some products the store carried and we moved onto other topics. When I researched, here on DG, looking for other cultivars and the like, I stumbled across this article.
What is said here has made a believer out of me, I'm going to start the spray program immediately.Thanks.
Great info! I'm just getting into roses, so all of this was totally new to me. I recently purchased six rose plants (3 shrubs, 3 climbing), and I'm determined not to let them die! Thanks so much :) :)
In the spring I planted a knock out rose bush. It was doing fine for the first month, now the leaves are curling slightly. The bush is healthy looking with no apparent insect damage. It is still producting roses. We have had lots of rain this spring and summer, but it hasn't affected my other roses. Any ideas? Thanks, Barbara
