Ian,

Your article was well written and very helpful. I usually just point and shoot, with the result that most of my pictures turn out to be poor quality. It is extremely frustrating when I can't get a good shot of a plant I need to post for identification and I hope you will post more articles as easy to understand as this one!

Thanks Terri,
I hope it helps you turn frustration into enjoyment. You can contact me for help anytime & of course, there are much better photographers around too. I understand that one may be following this up, which is good because I left out a lot of things.
Trust you Victor to ask hard questions, hey? :) What is film??? Indeed! Something that doesn't get used enough anymore IMO & I reckon you may agree.

Great article Ian!! I have a manual but gotta replace it. :~( Has too many problems and it's cheaper to get a new and better one. As soon as it gets replaced I can get back out there with it.

Victor, film is better than digital. LOL

Ian, finally had the opportunity to read your article. Wow - excellent article and lots of good information for this "wanna be"! I recently purchased a new ultra compact Nikon for the ability to slip it into my pocket and conveniently shoot the pictures I always missed because the old digital was too cumbersome. However, I'm still "fighting" with it and after reading your article I might just be tempted to try my hand with DH's fancy Nikon. ISO and Aperture were always difficult for me to grasp but you've shed new "light" on these terms for me - Thank you!
