I have 3200 sq. ft. of stained concrete floors...They look beautiful if nobody walks on them. The scuffing drives me crazy...does anyone know of a product that is durable, scuff & scratch proof? I am currently using Johnson Wax Professional Low Maintenance (ha ha!) Floor Finish. This really needs to be put on weekly to keep the shine. I am not turning away matte finish options at this point...I'm really thinking I need to tile over this. FYI - If you are thinking of putting stained concrete in your home - DON'T DO IT!! I wish someone would have been straight with me :{

When you say scuffing, do you mean the blackish scuffs from shoes? Or just taking the shine off? If it's the black scuffs, that's going to happen to any hard floor, the solution is don't let people wear shoes in the house (or make sure the shoes aren't the type with the black rubbery soles). If it's taking the shine off, I have to think there's a more permanent type of shiny finish than the wax, it doesn't surprise me that wax would wear off pretty easily. I don't know too much about concrete, but I would think there's some sort of shiny sealer/finish that they could put on that would hold up better than the wax.

There should be sealer coats under the wax. Some are shinier than others.

The floors were professionally acid stained and the finish is not wax but a glycol finish. The scuffing is taking the shine off the floor...

Boy, I've been in restaurants here where they have stained concrete with a beautiful high gloss finish on them so there has to be a product out there that could be applied to your floors as well. Do you have the contractor's name that installed your floors, or can you contact the builder and ask for his contact info. Maybe you could go check online yellow pages for concrete stainers and contact them. If they use stained concrete in restaurants with all that foot traffic and they stay looking great, there's a top coat that can be applied for your floors. Good luck... but I bet your floors are beautiful though.

What about using the stuff they put on concrete pavers used for outdoor patios and driveways? Contact your local Unilock dealer and see if will work on your floor. I know it comes in satin and glossy.
