Just getting into the Rebel and all of its options. Your article is a great meld with other basic guidelines I am trying to establish as my new second nature.

That's great Doc. One of my favourite cameras is that old Canon Rebel pictured in the article. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.

I really jumpped in full bore. I traded in my whole collection of Canon AE1 goodies. Perhaps I should also say if I get homesick for the 35mm I have a son who picked my best assessories and added them to his AE2. That meca is not far away. :)
...I have spent the whole winter shooting a grandson wrestling using the Rebel, 300mm lens, available gym light and all from one spot high in the bleachers. I have health issues that prevent me chasing the edge of the mat. I am more than pleased shooting 1600 ISO at seventy to a hundred feet away. The lens is 4.5. I may upgrade the lens if he conntinues to be a leading wrestler in Pennsylvania. He was 15 - 0 up to the week before state finals when out came the apendix. That closed an exciting year. We have no idea where this camera and that kid is going to end up. He is only thirteen first year in Jr. Hi.
...I now have the same relative young player getting ready for baseball. At some point he may have to excercise singleness of purpose. For now its three sports and music while maintaining superior honor roll in the academics.
...My job is to cover this unfinished business as best I know how. I think there are a number of uncut diamonds in view.

Its sounds like your grandson has a big sporting future. You must be very proud. The interest & photos you are taking would be a big encouragement for him, even if he is shy about it. I have a 3 year old boy but he only wants to know about Thomas Tank Engine so far. :)

Yes indeed Thomas is a big deal with kids all over the world. At three years of age you have your prime photo imp at your table three meals a day and much of the inbetween time. The only thing of equal interest would be a wet nosed puppy. Our only grand daughter is just entering college. She holds the key to any close little ones in our family. All the rest of our hatchlings were boys. They are all younger by a minimum of four years. Hopefully we will get to see a couple more little ones capture our interest.

I hope you do. Its funny how they all love Thomas hey? The books make no sense to me & the show is pretty old-fashioned, but kids can't get enough of him.

No matter what the situation Thomas starts and ends with a big positive happy smile.
In this world of stress could it be the consistancy of the smile supported by lite music tempo and happy sounds? Even more direct bright bold colors nicely used through out the pages of his life.

Yes true. It could be worse. I guess I am just forming an aversion to reading the books.
Btw, if you want a challenge, try photographing the moon. I've been having a go lately but its not that easy. They say it gets easier as it gets fuller. I hope so.

The moon...I live in a college city. They have an observitory to which one can purchase camera time to go into outter space. I have never been there but I have friends who captured the moon events of recent months. Some of their shots are really good. Both are exceptional amatuers or low end professional level camera hobby persons.
