Hi, This got mixed in with a container discussion. I have several photos now.
I'm an old lady, haha, who's gardened on and off most of my life. I've never had yellow crookneck squash act like this before. The seed(Park's) and young plants were fine. The soil is very nice, rich, front lawn of the house I've just rented. I doubt there have ever been veggies here, and I haven't seen a veggie garden in any of the neighborhood's yards, half acre lots.
One of the five vines started having deformed leaves, the young new leaves growing. I almost pulled it out, shame on me for not, but, it's been interesting. There are some green sheildbugs that I suspicious of, would they spread a virus or disease?
Before very long, the other vines got the deformity, and the fruits! The yellow parts are puffed up big, larger than the green parts.
I've cooked and eaten some once, but in with other stuff, so I still don't know what it tastes like. It's just too ugly to eat!!!
But what's really strange, the new baby squashes on the growing end of the vines look OK, even tho' the leaves are still deformed. The green lumpies started right out from tinytiny looking the way they do.
