Currently I keep my "jewels" in a jewelry box. I really would like something more visable as I forget what I have. I do not want a tree-thing on my dresser as it is already crowded. Any smart ideas for a clutter free solution?

You can get a velvet organizer with compartments and a lid. If you don't want to spend a lot of money and have small items like earrings, I would pick up one of those plastic boxes that they make to hold thread for embroidery when it's on the flat spools. It has a lid and lots of compartments and costs about $3 at a craft store. I can't find a decent photo, but they have them at any craft store. Here is one site with bad photos:

You can put necklaces into one of those silverware organizers.

Dw had so much - bought her an armoire - emptied 3 smaller jewelry boxes.

Now needs another - so many necklaces - both sides and all hooks have multiples hanging.

I got these translucent craft storage boxes. They fit into my drawer. I can put seasonal jewelry into one, rings into another, pins into a third, and so forth. I can see both sides of the jewelry by looking under the box and it keeps me organized and jewelry is untangled and out of sight. Mine came from Target but this is a random web link I found of it:

Yep, that's the kind that I was talking about. I've also found containers made for guys who collect sports cards to be useful for that, and for makeup. Much cheaper than the same containers are when they are labeled "makeup" containers.
