Way back in the 60's, the terrariums often had lids (still do, of course), and I thought it was so that they could be somewhat of a closed system, needing little interference. Now I have questions about the possible formation of mildew---does this depend on the plant species, the temperature, or what? I do realize that with all gardening endeavors, one has to just be observant, but are there any general principles to guide one on this? My terraria are all in my mind so far!
