This vine is growing in the woods by my house and flowering right now (Not the wisteria). It looks like a rose to me, it has large thorns. I think I have the same vines in my yard too but we always cut them.
You might check & see if you have a variety of wild rose native to your area.Sure looks like a wild rose bramble patch to me,but all I've ever seen are pink ones.
Ok, thank you for the suggestion. I don't see these growing anywhere else but there, it was once a house a long time ago (could have been planted up to 100 years ago).
Yes, I think it is Rosa laevigata (cherokee rose). The plant files say that it blooms in the spring while macartney rose blooms in the summer. I wish it bloomed more, I was thinking about putting it along my wood line. I think I will leave it across the street instead, where I also leave the wisteria and blackberries, eventhough it is tempting.
