I know this isn't a bonsai forum, but we don't have one of those, and I'm not sure the container forum is the right place for this, so here goes.
I wanted to create a couple of miniature settings this year, and this is the first one. I am putting in the little 'Mikawa Yatsubusa' (if I have the name right, not sure if there is more than one cultivar with a similar name, but I need to dig the tag out of my discarded nursery pots to check. :-)
Anyway, this isn't exactly a bonsai, but maybe a miniature garden, or will be. However, I want to have a Japanese flavor to it. I plan to add a couple of dwarf conifers that I purchased today, and some more ground cover plants. I will probably make a mini arched bridge and look for a miniature japanese lantern (or make one). The stones are meant to resemble a stream.
The tree has a couple of really long branches, and I'm contemplating chopping them off altogether, though I decided to try and make them bend over the container first. I'll post another pic showing the bamboo "trainging" sticks I added. Looks a bit like a goofy arbor for now.
I invite your comments.
