Thank to everyone who followed the progress of the jungle mural here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/819546/
With that one finished. I'm just getting started on the underwater mural in the bathroom. It will not be as complicated as the jungle, so I am hoping to make some real progress within a week.
Here is the room before, just basic and white.

Here we are with the basecoat for the water. How many of you are brave enough to go for a color this intense?

It doesn't look that bright in person. I think that was just the effect of the flash. lol.
Ok, here is where I am as of today. Still have another days work and it will be finished. My next project is going to be much more fun. Think I am doing an African landscape.

Last one for today. It is sorta hard to get good pics in such a small room.

That is awesome! You will feel like you are looking at your twin through a porthole when you stand in front of the mirror.

Beautiful...You are an excellent painter...almost too good. That Turtle would creep me out a bit...My father is an Elvis nut and one of their guest bathrooms is filled with Elvis memorabilia...there's nothing quite like trying to go to the bathroom, looking over and seeing Elvis smiling and winking at you. But very beautiful, if at one point I try to do a desert scene (the ocean gives me the willies) I'll have to refer to your posts...
***just looked at your jungle mural-I believe I've had nightmares where the waking sight of primates and large cats would induce a heart attack, so I'll skip putting any creature larger than a sparrow in any mural I do...but that's amazing paintwork you do.

James, this is so cool, love the turtle. I would have to spend a lot of time in that bathroom just looking at the sights. You have done an excellent job. Keep showing your work to us. Laverne

Thanks guys. Peachespickett, I know what you mean. I don't think I would paint animals on my bedroom wall .
Ok, the room is officially complete. Tomorrow I'll do some final touch ups and clean up and take the final photos.
Here is some of the random little fishes I stuck in today.
This was a low budget mural, so I can't spend too much time on it.

I would LOVE to have paintings like that on our walls. Can't afford it, and sure can't paint it myself LOL, but I would love it. :-)

You do excellent work, jmcdowell! I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures. :-)

Wow - Love the bathroom -- so realistic

So glad you weren't commissioned by a gastroenterologist for his/her bathroom... (grin)

LOL, I think that might be a bit hard to take... but a mural of red and white blood cells could be very pretty...

Thanks guys. Missingrosie and Katiebear, I would imagine that neither one of those would really want to take their work home with them.
Well that's the end of the kid's areas now. The next project is an African landscape in the dining room. I'll have a few days to work on some studio work before then so hopefully I can share that soon.

Once again, I love it! And that turtle is SO real. I just sat her looking at him 1/2 expecting him to jump right out of the screen. Awesome!

Hi, I'm new here too and just saw these. They are wonderful. You seemed to be able to finish the work so fast!! Do you use acrylic paint?? It takes me weeks to do one wall!! I wish I had seen these before I started my mosaic in my bathroom...I'm sure it would have turned out very different and much nicer! My background to the mosaic is waaayyy too busy and your beautiful ocean would have guided me just right. UUUgggg...well - I still have many more walls to mosaic so there is still hope:)

Thanks so much for sharing.

WOW, I am so impressed, you have really made me smile looking at your beautiful murals. Both of your murals have such depth and perception its amazing. I dabbled in oils in college, but I could never get the depth you have in this. I thank-you for sharing and hope to see more of your works.
Gee I guess you can say I am a new fan...hee hee
