Perhaps someone can help me with this problem: Last fall I bought a heavy clay fire pit that sits in a metal ring. I love using it in all but the worst weather. However, spring rains (and winter snow) brought up a problem, water filling up the bowl. It gets VERY heavy and I have to get help to drain it. My question: could a small drain hole be drilled in the bottom, and would this ruin it for fires? I finally had to turn it upside down and needless to say, since I can't lift it back into the ring, it is useless to me right now. The weather is just about perfect for using it again, but we get lots of rain in the spring. Any suggestions? Oh, I did try to cover it with heavy plastic but the wind just tears it off. Thanks in advance!
Thank you very much for the answer. I'll be getting my drill out as soon as this batch of rain passes. I've thought about using it for planting carrots in the summer, lol.
