Plant. About 2 ft. Great clean looking foliage. The spikes contain white (cream colored) flowers, insignificant looking.

Is that a plant you bought? I hate to say it but ... it looks like very healthy speciman of rag weed to me.

Poppysue, hope I am more organized next year, with my plants. I was thinking that this was a plant (that I grew) from winter-sowing. Now I'm not sure... I will check out your suggestion, of the rag weed, thanks!

Here's a link with a picture of ragweed http://www.auburn.edu/~deancar/wfnotes/ragwd.htm The artemisias are related and have the same type of flowers. Maybe artemisia lactiflora would be a place to start.

aaaaah-choo! Ragweed is baaaaaad news for me!

I had to smile at this post; I have NO idea how many "plants" I've raised over the years to find out later they weren't the most desirable members of the garden. (I think it all started when I was a kid and would bring home "bouquets" for my mom, who graciously and wordlessly put them in a glass of water. Then she'd pour herself glass of water to swallow a handful of allergy medication ;0)

I think I will HAVE to let this one go. My son has some allergies and this little culprit, may be one that "sets him off".
Of course, I could list it on my trade page! Any takers? hehehe
