Bidding is finished!!! This was probably the largest hurdle to get past, and it's finished.

You can now bid on all items in the auction. So, PLEASE everyone go bid on all the "pretend" auctions and let's see what happens. Please report any bugs you find right here. This was a complicated piece of code and I'd like to know about any bidding problems you may run into.

Mmm, mmm. Just bid on some purple tomato seeds . . . can't wait! lol

In the meantime, though, the links under the seller name didn't work. It wouldn't let me ask a question, or view other dave auctions (although, that could mean there aren't any!).

On my screen there is a photo at the bottom of the listing but not at the top where I expect it -- is that intentional?

Also, I would like more navigational options such as "Back to listings" or "Back to search."

We love you Dave!

Well, I always DO expect a lot, but once you bid, doesn't that eliminate the possibility of buying it now? And the other way around - once someone has bought it now, shouldn't it no longer be available for bidding?

Are you making it so that people can deliberately bid way high? On eBay, it will automatically take the highest bid but reject any amount in excess of that amount. I tried to buy Teensy, and I bid $400 more than the competition. On eBay, that would just raise more money for pupil, and maybe get me a bargain, but on this auction, it meant that all the other bidders were wiped out before they even got started and I had bought myself a $500 toddler,.

And I like to loiter on eBay; I have a list of things I'm watching and I link back and forth between the auction I'm bidding on and the list and new searches the way you can on DG.

But all that said, I like it! x, Carrie

I would also like to see a "Back to all Auction" button. I had to go to products ,Auctions to bid again.

It looks GREAT Dave! Thank you for all the hard work you are putting into this.

I tried to bid on California Sunshine. Openign bid was 0.99 cent. put in 0.99 and got this my bid is placed below askign price.

The came back and put in 1.00 and got you are currently the highest bidder. The winnign bid is now 0.99.

Some folks that are not good with buyign on auctions may not know that they gonna have to bid above the asking price if they first bidder and may not realize that they are the first bidder showing.

Hope that makes sense.

Gonan go see now what hapens when i bid on top of somebody else. To see if it automatically icnreses the bids so much.

I bid on some springtime and the bidding worked well. Then I went back to auction, but couldn't get back to the listings.

I also bid on some Michigan snow, which is my auction. It took the bid and I jumped the price up. Shouldn't be able to bid on my own auction and raise the price. There needs to be a block in place.
It did show that I was outbid, then offered me to bid higher. So that was working well, But again I was stuck there not being able to easily get back to the list of items.

You are doing a great job. This is going to be wonderful!

On ebay there seems to be a set increment that I believe is tied to the starting price. For instance, I buy tons of kimonos for which the bids start at 99 cents or $9.99. At that range, once there is a bid, you have to bid at least 50 cents higher for it to be accepted. But on Airstreams, which start at several thousand dollars, the increment is $25-$50 more.

I tried bidding on some snow, figure it wil come in handy when it in the 100's here. LOL It let me bid only one cent more than the last bid.

I just think that a bit silly. Usually the bids wil creep up from 25 cent to 50 cent a dollar or five dollars on the real high priced items. Other wise gonan be penning themselves to death to finally get through the maxiumun bid totals.

Yes, the auto auction feature of ebay is like that too, with higher increments. It is also much more expensive to list an ad for an automobile.

There is a set, "bid ____ amount or higher" prompt to help you, in case you can't add 50 cents to the highest bid.

YIKES! I tried one, 'Knights in White Satin Daylily', current bid $1.00 (6 bidders), entered a $2.00 bid, submitted and received the following message:

You are not the highest bidder! The winning bid right now is $20,362.60.???

So I bid on my own test auction, Hosta 'Stained Glass'. Unfortunately I forgot to enter a minimum bid when I initially submitted the item and when I placed a bid (lower than the "Buy it now" price) I received a message that my bid was accepted but it's not showing up on the auction. Even though we're just testing right now, is there a way for the Seller to edit his/her auction?

I'll probably have plenty of questions before the auction is "real" :)

I see the bids for the snow has changed back to a buck, was up to 4 dollars.

I also see that the bids are higher than the "buy it now" price. I tried to bid on something using the buy price and was told I had been outbid.

I would be good too if under, manage your auctions, you could see how the bidding is coming along. I am sure you haven't gotten near that far yet.

I have to say, Dave, you are making this simple and easy to use. Great job!!!

I just bid on the blue iris: $2.00 over the highest listed bid, but the message said "You are not the highest bidder. High bid is..." then the bid was listed at 50-cents over mine.

Do you have the proxy bids like eBay, where a bidder can put in the highest bid they will make? If someone says they'll bid $50 on the item, every time an incremental bid is posted, the proxy bid automatically comes in higher.

Or is this just a glitch because the auction is a test?

Summer, when I did that, it told me I had won for $600, $500 more than the current highest bid. I don't want that kind of proxy bidding, thanks. I'd rather if everything were just buy it now, period. x, Carrie

The correct "current price" is not showing up right now. I think the proxy bidding is in place, but while it looks like Teensy's bids are only at $1, I just bid over $2000 for her the system told me that so far I'm "winning" her for $1200.40 or something like that. (All of which seemed cute at the time, but now that I'm typing it out, it seems kind of weird... LOLOL)

OK, I just played around a little bit, and it seems like the amounts of the current bids are not showing up correctly when the amounts are very high (like Teensy for example). The auctions where the bids are more realistic amounts seem to work fine, but the ones where the current bid price is in the thousands or so display as very low amounts, and you don't find out the real current bid until after you put in your bid and it tells you it's too low.

I think it automatically makes your bid just enough to beat the current top bid, but then if other people continue to bid, it'll increase it automatically as needed until you hit $10.
