I was given an Indian Hawthorne (Rhapiolepsis indica 'Heather') bonsai last week, which arrived by mail. When I unpacked it, it looked OK, had lots of little buds, but some of the leaves seemed a little turned in on themselves. I watered it, and it has been in a bright room that is cool at night and warm in the day. 5 days later, many of the leaves are turning brown, both from the center and on some edges. The stems are green when scratched. The buds have now completely shrivelled up. No sign of bugs. Any ideas? Any tips on how or if it is possible to save this?
