I have a bamboo plant that I have had for approximately 3 years. Its been growing on the north side of some outdoor steps in part shade. I am in USDA zone 8b.
The plant is about 8 feet tall with stems that seem to be no bigger than 0.25". The plant is a clumping bamboo, over the time I have had it, it has gone from a 2 gallon plant to something that has a 3 foot diameter.
Looking around at different sites on bamboo, there seem to be few that have such thin stems and are clumping. The stems are medium to dark green with about 4" between nodes. At each node, there appear to be 3 plantlets forming on the younger to mid-life parts of the stem.
Since it is spring, I looked for new growth, and found that I had new stems coming up with a strong zigzag pattern near the tip.
I can take photos in the morning if it would help.
