These are two relatively new ornamental grasses that I have been seeing on several websites. I finally decided this morning that I am going to try the Princess which should be about 3 feet where I had my purple fountain grass last year. Last year's purple fountain grew much too high, and loomed over my walkway. These grasses also have the advantage of taking colder weather - they are hardy to zone 8, and maybe even 7 with protection from what I have read. The Prince grows 5 - 6 feet.
I'm getting the Prince from Santa Rosa gardens, but they are all sold out of the Princess. Wayside is the only place that I could find it available. I know that Wayside is overpriced, but it doesn't seem like I have a choice .
Finally, they look more like phormiums, which I have become more interested in recently. Has anyone grown these?
