I have someone bringing me pips at the Iowa RU, and I'd planned on putting them in a shady area with some hostas and ferns. Will they strangle the others out? It is kind of set back into a corner, with landscaping edging, then a sidewalk.

I love the little darlings, but not if they are going to kill my other babies!

My experience is that convallaris doesn't play well with hostas. They like the same kind of conditions. The rhizomes sneak into the hosta roots and you can't dig them out w/o hurting the hostas.

I can't say that they will kill an established hosta, but the two will be forever joined.
