Hey Carol,
Thanks for reading. I came across Dark & Stormy researching the article & know the version produced here by the Bundaberg Rum Co. Some say it has to have Goslings Black Seal Rum though, which I am not familar with. I guess the "Dark" comes from the rum. Is that right? I was expecting Black Seal to be a white rum because I had also read the cocktail was Jaimaican. What type of rum do you prefer?

Hey...Well, I have had it with Bundaberg Rum/Bundaberg Ginger Beer - Cheaper than the bottled stuff. I have also had it with Jamaican Rum and BundabergGB - OH...so GOOD!!!! Heck...I would just use any good rum!!!!

OK. I suspect the talk about Black Seal is some type of marketing. Like yourself, I reckon any decent dark rum would be as good as another. You are making me crave a dark & stormy now.

OK. Surgery? I hope it goes well. Using the opportunity to make GB is a good idea. Its something you need to take time to make properly I reckon. Why don't you join the Yahoo group? They seem like friendly ppl.

Nah the Real Ginger Beer group listed at the end of the article. They have info. about making the original, alcoholic version & share the culture around so you can start out making the real thing. Alcoholic GB & rum would certainly help smooth your recovery I reckon.

No worries. I need to ask you a favour. By a cosmic coincidence, I need to use your PF photo of a Hoya imbricata for my next article. Do you mind? I will add an accreditting caption.

No worries. Feel free to use it...a credit would be great. Are you doing an article about Hoyas? I have some great photos of H. imbricata in dry season on trees in the Philippines...tons of blooms, everything else really dry. makes one wonder...?

Sounds beautiful. I'd love to live somewhere tropical like you but then I'd miss the cold weather stuff like stone fruit & so on. Do you have pictures of your Dischidias? I'd like to see some different types.

I have pictures... but the best place to find great photos is at http://www.dischidias.com (or maybe it is singular???).. Antone Jones has the site and he has great plants.

David Liddle in Cairns grows hoyas, but he does have lots of dischidia...

Cheers,
Carol
