I made a terrarium out of a very large wine glass. I planted succulents and they grew very well. The only problem I had was that they out grew the planter. When I cut them back, they died. Any idea what went wrong?

The only thing I can think of that might have happened, is that when you cut them back the humidity was too high for succulents. They are very sensitive when cut.
