I just bought a bluecrop and blueray blueberry bushes my question is did I waste my money will these produce and grow or are they hard to get to live and fruit do they do good in zone 7 do you have to put a lot of expensive fertilizer and compost and do you have to have a perfect soil
I'm sure the blueberry experts will be along with some more advice...but I do know they need acid soil. So if you're planting them in the ground then I'd definitely check your soil pH first, if your soil is really alkaline then I'd probably plant them in pots instead since it'll be easier to control the pH.
From everything I've read online, Blueberries are actually pretty easy to grow. I don't have mine in yet, but I'm lining an 80' fence with them.
I've read you can make your soil acidic enough by just putting peat moss in the bottom of the planting hole, but your planting hole must be wide enough - their roots grow shallow & wide. After they're in, they're low maintenance plants.
You'll get advice here & in the Fruits forum, but also run a search in Google for "growing blueberries". Have fun!!
