I'm baffled and amazed. After 30 years of living with a slob he's suddenly turned into Mr. House Proud. After he retired I thought maybe he'd be less of a slob, having more time to fill, but if anything it got worse. Then about a month ago I think space aliens replaced him with a clone.

He vacuums. He dusts. He actually loads and unloads the dishwasher. He's started to CLEAN OUT THE GARAGE!!!! Don't get me wrong -- I'm not complaining. Far from it... I'm just afraid it's only a phase, so I'm going to revel in it while I can. There are still some things he seems to be incapable of, but that's okay. (If anyone can explain why a grown man can't figure out how to fold anything that comes out of the dryer, please let me know...!)

Has this ever happened to any of you? Did it last? (PLEASE tell me it lasts ...) Or is he really a space alien clone?

mgpaquin - Congratulations! I hope it last a while. That laundry comment made me laugh. My husband can fold a load of towels without folding any two towels the same way. It is amazing.

Wow...is he proficient enough to give lessons to my husband? We've only been married for 6 months...boy did I learn a lot about him since then! No vacuuming, no dusting, no cleaning toilets, floors or tubs! How did this man live without me!? :) He had a maid! I'm adopting her!

Reenygarden, you'll notice that I said nothing at all about toilets or tubs! (Politeness forbids me to discuss the floor around the toilet... EEEEWWW.) If your husband had a maid before he married you, then he's used to paying for maid service. Strongly encourage him to add that expense back into the budget! (Once a week, you know, for floors and toilets and tubs and vacuuming...) Good luck. If I knew which space aliens left the clone with me I'd send them to your house!

mgpaquin, the floor around the toilet is an unspeakable! Let me know the space aliens' secret when it's revealed. Until then - the maid is my best friend!

Tell them to sit while doing it or clean it themselves. Worked for me.
mg- maybe he got bored being at home or since he's been home seen how much you do and feels guilty.

flowerjen, he's been home for 3+ years and this just started... It's GOT to be an alien clone! Now these are some aliens we need to make friends with, don't you think?!
