I have a house plant the tag says Maranta Leuconeura. It has green broad leafs with black spots, my problem is it had developed some white stuff on it, looks like power or spongy. Is it an insects or what and how do i get rid of it.
A picture would definitely be best, but my first suspect would be mealy bugs, they're a very common pest on houseplants. What I usually do for them is take a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and wipe them off with it. When I've had them, they were usually on the stems and around where the stem joins the leaves, if the stuff you're seeing is just on the leaves then it's probably something else.
