There is such a variety of feeders for our little jeweled friends. From the plastic practical to beautiful blown glass.

We invite you show us your feeders, and maybe tell us what you like about it!

This is my Aspects HummZinger Ultra - I like it so well because there is no dripping, it's so easy to take part and clean. It also has a built-in ant moat!

Another plus is that it is excellent for taking pics. There are no blocked shots.

Great job nanny! Thank You!

Remember folks you don't have to have a Hummingbird in the shot; this is just about the feeder itself. So don't be shy; lets see your feeders!

Okay I'm off to get some pics of mine. :-)

This one is my new one… it has a built-in ant moat, which I think is genius.

It is Birdscapes' Deluxe Rose petal.

On the above, the oval is Opus and has two feeding holes. The clear part is glass.
The smaller one on the left is First Nature. It's all plastic, but is easy to clean. The tube is a wide mouth.
The larger on the right is a Perky Pet 209 (30 oz.) The tube is glass.

I've seen the birds drink from all of these. The oval one is drippy though.

Pelle... that one is my hummers' fave, too... and it was the least expensive of the bunch. Other than the aspects feeder, it's also the easiest to clean and fill.

If anybody spots a good deal on those Hummzingers -- please post! I've been hoping to find one locally without paying $50 for it at a specialty shop... but I might have to just order a couple and pony up for shipping. That Perky Pet one should be easier to find -- I'm guessing Home Depot or WalMart. :-)

The pretty glass ones with the spouts on the bottom like Mrs Ed's last photo seem to work best if you have a sheltered, shady spot to hang them. If you hang them in a warm/sunny spot, they drip... a lot!

I have several feeders, but this tends to be my favorite. I get relatively few hummingbirds over the season, and those who do show up (usually females and immatures) tend to feed more often from my shrubs and plants. This feeder seems to be most similar to the one that pellatory has pictured.

Critter, I don't totally fill my large Perky Pet feeders yet. I only put @ 2 cups sugar water in each right now. My hummers don't seem to fight as much when they can drink farther away from each other on a feeder. Too, with their wide mouths, these feeders are SO much easier to clean when it gets hot and mildew tries to grow. I really dislike having to use one of those bottle brush thing-ies to clean a feeder!

Right now, my hummers all fight over the Oriole feeders, though they have the same sugar mixture in them. Go figure!

I have 3 of the 8 oz hummzingers and one 16 oz one. I got rid of all my other hard to clean ones. I love them. I think I'll get a 12 oz one too. The 16 isn't as popular as the 8 oz ones. It gets so hot here I have to change syrup almost daily in the summer. With the 8 oz, not much gets wasted. The ant moats work great unless the other birds have drunk the water out!!!

Mima...
The people at Aspects have SUPER customer service as well... I bought my feeder at a store here in town. A week later, a (insert cuss word here) squirrel had chewed on the ports, leaving gnaw marks. I called Aspects and they sent me a new lid, no questions asked. I was VERY impressed. You don't see that kind of customer service often anymore.

I have two like the first feeder in the thread. Though one is quite faded from the sun, hummers love it.

Now for another question...I want an oriole feeder but don't have any idea of what to get. I've been putting out oranges for two weeks and nothing. Bought the grape jelly. Haven't even seen an oriole feeder at Home Depot or Lowes, and our local great birding store only had one bad one.

Rose, glad to hear you are okay. Storms were mild by the time they got here, but we did get half an inch of rain. Having lived in KC area for 15 years, though, I know that Kansas and Missouri gets all the good weather!

Coo...I have two Oriole feeders and they and the Hummers are using them both! One of them is the flat saucer type like the first post and have little wells for the jelly and you put the orange on the stem. I got that one from Wild Birds Unlimited. The other one is a globe that I got from Wal Box!

We have tornados in our area and the closest one hit all around us within a mile. Too close for comfort and we and the neighbors spent about an hour in our basement!!

We use the wide mouthed red glass or plastic feeders from Walmart, too. But why are they $5 where you are and $15 here?!? I'm so glad they have started making the jars with wide mouths for easy clean up.

Coo--yes, I am lurking! Glad you escaped the attack of the chandelier. Oh, my! That will teach you not to go into bars on windy days!

I bought one of those orange 'jelly, orange & nectar' combo oriole feeders at the bird store in Milford. Couldn't find one at HD or Lowes, either. What about Tractor Supply, though? Any luck there? TS is usually nice and inexpensive and has good stuff for birds (East of Eastgate Mall a bit).

I haven't seen Orioles around here yet, either. The 'Cincinnati Birding' website says they are just arriving in our area now. I bought a bunch of oranges from the clearance table at the produce store and cut them in half and nailed them to trees. (Cheap feeder idea).

It's raining now or I would post pics of my HB feeders. The feeders haven't had a lot of customers yet but the HBs are buzzing around here--I guess they are feeding on insects and the lilacs and buckeye blossoms. They check out the daffodils but don't seem to nectar from them...

Mima--great pic of your feeder! With all those hummingbirds, you must not be shy about posting photos!

ritapig--and your glass feeder is so pretty! I love the colorful hand blown style feeders but I'm thinking they look difficult to maintain...I wonder...?

Rose--OMG did you just have another storm? Can't believe the tornado came so close, that sucks. Glad you were able to tear yourself away from the birds--and Dave's,LOL--to get in the basement.

T--I was having a business lunch at DeSheas. Really I was! What bird store in Milford? I was talking about Ed's Feed and Seed in Symmes/Montgomery. Haven't tried Tractor Supply but that's a good idea. We're headed to Milford momentarily. Is it by that weird (but cool) little nursery right off 28 and 275?

This is a nice bird store in Milford. Pricey, though, as most of the bird boutiques are. [HYPERLINK@www.birdchat.com]

I am trying some of the fancier glass feeders in the front yard (for looks). But I have the red glass/plastic Walmart 'old reliables' in the side and back. None of my feeders has gotten much action yet but there are HBs around in the garden. One of our very favorite feeders is the plastic window feeder held on with suction cups. Lots of entertainment for us and the HBs loved it too.

I planted lots of red cannas around an I'm hoping they will be the most popular 'feeder' this summer. (-:

Thanks, everyone. I bought the two 'fancy' glass feeders at Lowes this spring. The window feeder came from Best Nest, as I recall, but I've seen them around in stores a lot this spring.

Spent time today cleaning and filling the feeders. I noticed when I took the pics they needed some maintenance!

We have had a lovely spring. Some new birds to the yard and feeder and many of my perennials, now three years old, are blooming like crazy.

Happy birding to everyone. t.
