Psssst. Right here:

http://davesgarden.com/products/market/

The Seller and Buyer interface is finished. If we can get some beta products up and some beta purchases made, I think this thing will be ready for prime time launch tomorrow or Wednesday, weather permitting.

Yep, there it is!

Tomorrow I will add in the whole order completion system, and we should be ready to test that. Once that goes okay, I will erase all our test products and we will launch it for real.

After that, we'll add features as they are requested. Eventually we will add a built-in feedback system (it currently just relies on the member-to-member feedback system).

The orders management screen is updated to get all the way to the shipping cost, sales tax, and buyer notification of these items.

So, for everyone who is testing this, please go to:

http://davesgarden.com/products/market/

Click on "» Sellers: Click here to enter our Sellers Management area"

Then click on "» Click here to manage the orders you've received"

From there, you will be able to manage each order. Click on "Manage order" and then specify the shipping cost and sales tax (if applicable). Then click on Next Step to send the D-Mail.

Let me know how this goes!

When I go to the Sellers Management area (http://davesgarden.com/products/market/sell/index.php), no matter which option I click on it takes me to the "DG Marketplace: Managing your orders" page (http://davesgarden.com/products/market/sell/orders/) - which is blank because I don't have any orders.

PLEASE let us edit after we hit launch!! I just listed a bunch of stuff on eBay for a friend and I had to edit some of the things 3 times because I kept missing things. (Which tells me I shouldn't be listing things in my sleep... LOL)

Well, there is a reason fro that. the problem with editing launched listings is that, if someone has bid based on what you stated in the original ad, then suddenly you have a situation if you change the facts of the ad.

ebay does NOT allow you to edit a listing once a bid has been placed, although you can answer questions.

After the bid there is no editing on ebay ~ true, but this is currently not for bids but buy it nows.

In the posted ad format it does appear a tad different than the setup both here and on ebay. I always proofread and after submitting, go to the item and postproof again. Thought it would be a convenience to correct. Sorry.

I just realized that on the email the title has an order # that must be numerical for all the orders, was I able to edit that? If not, maybe that shouldn't be on the email, it could get confusing if individual sellers are trying to keep track of their own order #'s as a way to keep organized.

The "Order was shipped" status is now in. Click on Manage order to continue the process. As far as the system is concerned, once the order is shipped, the order is finished and there's nothing else to do. If the customer wants to write you to say they got the order, they can simply reply to the dmail.

The Order # is automatically assigned by the system and is included in the dmail subject line so that all parties can later refer back to the order.

And a way to easily reverse any payments, etc in a situation like that. Obviously sellers should clearly list where they can and can't ship, but there are always going to be a few buyers who don't take the time to look at that section in their eagerness to buy a plant, so it would be nice if the seller had an easy, fast way to refund money and get their item relisted without having to go through a lot of hassle.

If you are selling the same item, then set the quantity. Don't duplicate the item as that will clutter you up.

If you sell one item and want to sell another just like it, then adjust the quantity and relaunch.

Once things get a little overloaded, I can certainly add some features to make it easier to sort through your product listing (such as, show only "In Progress", etc)
