This sandpiper was taken on Prince Edward Island. I'm guessing a Greater Yellowlegs or a Lesser Yellowlegs?

I can't be sure but I think the first bird is the Lesser Yellowlegs.

They say, it's hard to tell, they almost have to be side by side. Thought maybe someone would know about other identifying marks, to tell them apart.

And last Mew gulls or Herring Gull?

Lesser Yellowlegs is smaller (no help here) and has a straighter, all dark bill. They sound different, too.

1 - Greater Yellowlegs. Note the grey base to the bill (all blackish in Lesser)
2 - Red-breasted Merganser
3 - Mallard, female left, male right
4 - American Black Duck. There is also an Australian Black Duck, but that isn't going to turn up in Canada!! Both often get called just 'Black Duck' in their respective homelands.
5 - Herring Gull
6 - Herring Gull. Note the red spot on the bill; Mew doesn't have that.

Thank Claypa, I'm new to shore birds, I didn't know they sound different.
Thank you Resin, I like the details you give to ID the birds. Much appreciated.
