I went on the auction site and put in an item...but when I sell I always save a copy in my documents, then when I want to relist down the road...(lets say I sell out and have to let other plants grow before I can sell them) I cut and paste so I dont have to re-type everything all over...but you have a thing that lets you (DG) look at my notebook.. and if I click NO.. it wont let you cut and paste...whats up with that?

I didn't run into that. I cut & pasted before submitting and was able to save to my journal.

DG doesn't have access to anyone's computer. All it wanted was access to the things that were on the clipboard so that it could be pasted in. The clipboard is where things go when you copy them, it's how the computer "remembers" what you copied so it can paste it somewhere else. It's probably because of your internet security settings that it asked you to do that, but since DG is a trustworthy site there's no reason not to let it see your clipboard.

if you prefer, you could upload your photos to some other site and then download them to Dave's from there...

I understand clipboard...you wrote...how the computer "remembers" what you copied so it can paste it somewhere else...but you seem to forget...it's your computer...what YOU wrote...yes I have a great firewall...DG should not need to see anything on a persons computer but what they put on DG...

It has nothing to do with pic...OR if they are trustworthy or not! I like DG but a red flag comes up when someone wants to see ANYTHING on ones computer...

BTW...ask the guy that fixed my computer about this and he said ...HE!! NO..NEVER give anyone anytime access to your computer...FOR ANY REASON!

When you copy something, you are relying on your computer to remember what you copied. When you use the "paste" command to re-copy it into another website, the website has to "retrieve" that text from your clipboard, where it was copied and temporarily stored.

Are you running IE 7 as your browser? I think it's the one that has built in some "enhanced" security settings on the copy/paste clipboard issue. DG isn't doing anything different than it has ever done; IE 7 is just more sensitive than it used to be.

My computer tech who actually builds custom computers for a living says that anyone's computer can be gotten into very easily. The internet is never a place to put anything you don't want other people reading.

****edited to say that I don't care who reads anything I put in cyberspace

and pasting something from your clipboard to an internet marketplace does put it out there. i have a degree in computer science [Bachelor's, I'm an Aggie, but don't tell anyone!], and i can ASSURE you what Terry says is right on the money. nothing is different, just one more "feature" they are selling their software on. it is quite annoying, and they don't even have an "always" for it like they do pop-ups, nor "ignore" like when copying or recopying items. i for one will be complaining, or "sending feedback" like they say. their programmers will consider it a "bug", and offer a free fix for it, i would hope...

froghollowlady, if it makes you uncomfortable, then I recommend you do not use the feature.

froghollow... I had gotten the same message as you when I tried to copy, cut and paste. I am a very paranoid puter secuity person too, must be because of age. : ) I worried at first too, and then I just clicked to allow the acess. Every time you copy and paste it goes to clipboard and that how it retrieves it.
