I just received this picture from the Alabama State Track and Field meet at Gulf Shores, Alabama -- held May 2 and 3rd. The person who sent it is identifying it as an eagle. It is not a great picture, but I was hoping that someone could help determine if it really is an eagle, what kind?  Click the image for an enlarged view.

Having seen eagle nests in Alaska, I'd doubt this is an eagle. Eagle nests are HUGE. I agree with Pelle... the bird doesn't look like an eagle either. |

Definitely an Osprey. We have them build nests in the light towers around ballfields, quite frequently, here in Maryland. |

yep Osprey...I see them nesting all over Florida in similar locations. |
