I have a very strange thing happening in my front garden. All of a sudden, a lot of the plant stems on my tulips, peonies, roses, and other perennials are twisting and turning into all kinds of crazy configurations. At first I thought it was because we had such high temps yesterday and thought they were wilting, so even though it rained heavily last week, I watered everything last night. This morning I expected to see them all upright again, but no, they're now "stiff" in their new curled and twisted shapes. Again, it's not just the roses, but the stems of many different plants. I wondered what in the world could be affecting this and making it happen all at once, and the only thing that comes to mind is that a few days ago I sprayed the front garden with some garlic pepper juice I concocted from the spice cabinet a month ago, because skunks were burrowing around the plants and someone had been eating the tulips. I think that maybe as it fermented something happened chemically that has a very weird impact on the stems of plants. Has anyone heard or seen anything like this before? I swear, I'm not imagining this!
