I just found this forum while looking for pictures to identify plants and trees around my home. Glad to see basketweaving on here. I am primarily a basket maker. I use a lot of the commercial reed, but love to use white oak, honeysuckle, and other harvested materials. I learned when I lived in rural Ohio years ago, went to workshops in Kentucky and Tennessee.
Hi Katie,
I am a pine needle basket maker but I am going to learn to make the heavier baskets. I have made about 20 baskets in the last couple of months for plant trades. It worked out great. I got loads of plants now and they have a nice pine needle basket. We used the ole barter system of trading. I didn't have plants to trade but I made baskets instead. I think that everyone came away happy.
Welcome aboard.

I got one of the basket trades with Gourdbeader and I can tell you her pine needle baskets are beautiful. I've been showing mine off to everyone who comes to visit us. I keep telling myself that one of these days (if I ever get time) I'm going to learn basket weaving. I have so many things growing out in the wild that I think would work.
I just found this forum and love it.. Im getting a lot of inspiration from everyone. Ive been weaving for about 20 yrs now with about a 5 yr break due to heath issues and am getting back into it now. I do antler baskets and gourd baskets mostly
