Went to a yard plant sale in Tucson yesterday and found this gallon pot of violets. I have the common sweet violets doing well under the shade of a citrus tree. Was told these would do well in the same location. Any ideas as to a name? Thanks so much. Harold

Viola hederacea, Australian violet. Likes warm climates and lots of water.

Thanks Dale! That was quick, and absolutely correct. We sure have the warm climate, and just planted it so that it will get shade and citrus irrigation. When I took it out of the gallon pot, it had runners "running" all around the inside. Tried to straigten them out and spread around near the plant. We'll see. Thanks again. Harold

Your welcome. It is a good groundcover, but, it does need water and some shade.
