Sheesh, I buy a hibiscus from Lowe's and the tag is as vague as you can get but lists the name as "enlightenment hibiscus" and the flowers are large yellow with a pink center. I go to type the name in plant files and it comes up with every color but mine? What am I doing wrong????

I looked up Hibiscus 'Enlightenment' in Plant Files and this is what I got: [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com] It sounds like your description. If it's not a match then I suspect your plant was mislabeled, Lowes isn't always the best about correctly labeling their plants.

(how I found it was I went to the specific search, put Hibiscus in the genus field and Enlightenment in the cultivar field. I always find the specific search is better than the general search when you know as much about the plant's name as you did in this case)

Edited to add...I just went to the general search and typed in Hibiscus Enlightenment in the search field and that hibiscus was the first one that popped up there as well...I'm not sure why you didn't have any luck when you looked.

Oh good gravy, I'm quite embarrassed now. I redid my search and you are quite right! It does pull up? So I'm left wondering what I'd typed? It had brought up hibiscus just not mine.

Yet I still appreciate the extra knowledge on how to do a more through search.

Thank-you!

Sometimes just a minor typo can really throw you off, could be you flip-flopped two letters or something so it didn't recognize it as Enlightenment and it popped up every hibiscus in the world instead. I just went and played around, and in the general search if I mess up one letter of Enlightenment it does just pop up a bunch of random hibiscus. But if you go to the specific search and put hibiscus as the genus, and then mess up a letter of Enlightenment when you type it in the cultivar field, it asks me "did you mean Enlightenment" and gives you a link to click that takes you to the correct plant. So I think I'd still recommend the specific search when you know that much of the name!
