Can any of you share how your markets recruit and attract farmers & growers? I am having a very difficult time trying to recruit actual growers. We have plenty of people who want to sell baked goods and crafts but it seems to me that a farmers market should have a percentage of, well: farmers. The main reason is because the is a highly and rapidly developing area and you have to go further and further out to find farmers. Given the price of gas and the fact that we are not a large tier market like the ones in the Atlanta and it makes the task doubly tough.

I think I may have lost one of our anchor vendors which would hurt our young market significantly. We greatly increased the crops we'll be bringing to market so it will absorb some of the loss. But the other vendor had the capacity to grow a lot of stuff that we don't have the room for such as okra, peas etc.

Any ideas would be appreciated!
