| That is an Oriole.
Remember, in your bird baths, to place a rock of some object that the birds can land on, hop to, sit on ...they don't like to just plop into a body of water unless they are water birds.
dell - this rose from your thread... you had the idea!!! :) |

First look at this Carolina Wren and you might think, "poor thing". However, photos of dead birds aren't usually blurred. In this instance, the ground is in focus but he is slightly blurred.
He was having a great time rolling in the dirt. Click the image for an enlarged view.

And doing a real contortionist job in that first pic - lying on his back, but notice that his tail is the 'right' way up! So his body is twisted right through close to 180°.

| I'm glad you posted these photos Lin. I saw basically the same thing the other day. Some sparrows "bathing" in the dirt. They'd made a little "divit" looking indentation in some sandy soil. They all took turns waddling in it.
My photos aren't as close as yours because I took these from across the street.

| I have an unfinished fall and pond, It's almost done, it still need a few rocks that I have to run for.The pond is not deep enough to run in the Winter. It's a preform 250 gal. I keep goldfishes and water plants in it in the Summer . But the birds just love the running water. This picture gives you an idea. This was taken last Summer. You don't see the fall area to much.
