I have a polyethelyne collapsible greenhouse and was wondering if it would be better to harden off my seedlings using the greenhouse thing or to do it the old fashioned way by taking the seedlings outside for an hour, then two, etc.

If I do use the greenhouse, will the seedlings go into shock if I take them out, put them in the greenhouse enclosure, and only open it for an hour the first day, then two the second and so on? Can anyone provide input into the least risky (to the seedlings) way of hardening off and weigh in on whether I should use the greenhouse thing?

Last time I took a bunch of seedlings out and put them on the shady stoop of my house for the day, came home after work and they didn't make the excursion outside. I think I overdid it for their first day since they were out past nightfall on their first day. How can I ensure that they survive this time?

Thanks for the input!
