Ok, I'll start posting my progress pics on her now. You can see how I work in sections and layers.
This is step one.
The portrait is 36"X24"
I started by priming the board with 4 coats of gray gesso sanding in between each one until it was nice and smooth, then transferred the drawing.

I can tell already that this is going to be just fabulous! Thanks for sharing the step by step progression. I'm in awe of your talent! This is one lucky gal to have you creating this for her.

Thanks Janet,
I wish this gal was getting this portrait, I could use the $$$. Actually I am setting up a booth at the huge wedding fair in the convention center here next month and I wanted to have a couple more samples to take with me. That's the bad thing about portraits is that once they are done they are out of my studio. I am going to borrow the last one and have that one set up also.
I'm trying really hard to get away from painting murals and do more painting in the studio, if I can get some steady portrait commissions I can work on my other paintings at the same time.

I have really enjoyed seeing your work. The first portrait turned out so nice and this appears that it is going to be lovely.

The satin on the dress looks so real, I'm in awe!

Maybe when this girl sees the portrait, she'll have to have it. It is looking beautiful and I am sure enjoying seeing the progress. Lovin' it. Laverne

Thanks Merigold.
I don't know if the girl will ever see it, I just found her picture online and decided it was a good pose for this sample.
Here is where I am at now. This is the first layer of the skin tones. Still SO much work to do on this one.

Still tons of work to do on it, but I picked up the frame for it today. Thought I would give you guys a preview.
Usually, when I start to get restless with a piece I'll put it in the frame and tease myself with a potentially finished painting. That normally motivates me to get back on it.

If this doesn't get you at least a dozen commissions then the planets need to be realigned! Any bride, or anyone else for that matter, would be thrilled to be imortalized in such a beautiful way.
