Hi,
I have a Deffenbachia, a Shefflera and an Aloe plant that spend the summer months outside in my yard, but are confined to the cramped quarters of my apartment during the winter. They must compete for the natural light from a single window. I supplement with a grow light that I pretty much leave on from dawn until I go to bed. Of them all, the Shefflera seems to suffer the most. I'd say at least half of its leaves die off before I can move it outside again.
Anyone have any thoughts on how I could use the grow light better, or any other tricks?
Grew the pepper below and some other things under a small folding lamp with a 27 Watt Verilux bulb (CFML27VLX) last winter. The bulb puts a lot of light--over 1,700 lumens--on a small area (it can burn seedlings..in fact...it did several times when I wasn't paying attention). Don't know how it will work for what you are growing however...
