This tree has bark that is covered with large very sharp thorns. It is also full of big clusters of a green "berry" that make it very top heavy. New growth appears everywhere on the ground from its extended roots. I live on the east coast of central Florida.

I'm pretty sure that's a Zanthoxylum of some sort, maybe Z. clava-herculis.
