Ian, the part that always gets me is the carefully cleaning off all the debris part! Arghgh! And what do I do with the plant that is in the pot while I'm wiping it down with turpentine? Still, this was a very helpful article. Thank you! Carrie

Carrie, I don't know if its a good idea to paint a pot with a plant in it. It means you will miss parts & get soil in your paint probably. Look at it as a chance to move all your plants up a pot size for Spring maybe. That's more or less what I am doing now.
