I remind my father often, when he hurts from his memories of those he killed in WW2, that were it not for him and others like him - his daughter might not live with the freedom that her strong personality and business mind requires. When I take him to lunch today, he will get a Poppy - and a print of this lovely story and poem. Thank-you. I have always had Poppies in my California garden, now, I've reason to appreciate them even more.
