I haven't been able to see this bird yet, I just hear him. It sounds like a tiny kitten in distress, meow! meow! I've listened to several Cat bird recordings on the Cornell Univ. site, but it's not the sound I hear.
I have never seen a Catbird but kept hearing what I thought was one...turned out to be a Mockingbird! Don't know if it is good imitation since I've don't know if I've ever heard a "real" one. Wish I could help you but am not very good with the various calls!
No kittens under my porch. I know it's living in the thicket along the fence row. Maybe I'll hear it today when I garden in that area and be able to see it.
