Hi all,
I was wondering how to care for orchids that must be left at home alone for a couple of weeks...and I think it was MaypopLaurel (thanks) suggested using a wicking system. I've been having trouble getting it to work, but may have finally hit on the method: The water containers that the wicks pass from should be at the same height as the top of the pot! Now it's working great!
I have thick string threaded through straws with the end resting on exposed roots near the center of the plant.

I think this'll work fine to keep em happy for a spell!
