did anyone else go to the green convention in chicago or any other conventions? lots of new products, ideas, demonstrations etc to teach and motivate---"150 vsionary authors, leaders and educators; how to workshops; films; organic bear and wine; vegetarian foods; 300 eco-friendly exhibits, everything from all natural bodyh care products and organic cotton clothing to Fair Trade gifts and kitchen tiles made from renewable resources" --if one comes your way i think you will enjoy it!

I haven't been to a convention of any kind in several years. I love seeing all the newest products and learning about new ideas. They also can be a wonderful place for finding special low prices on big ticket items and for picking up samples to try out.

What were your favorite displays?

Yes, I liked everything except the apple green vanity top. I like green but to be tied to it with a permanant fixture like that would drive me buggy. They did a good job on the materials though and the location is awesome!

no i hadn't seen the green house give away but i will be sure to go there and enter!! i tried for the last few houses ---one was not too far from where we live---not our neighborhood but a town a few hours away-
you mentioned the counter top--one type of counter was made of recycled porcelin--from old toilets, sinks etc--broken up and set into a top that had a bit of a mosaic look to it--
they gave away samples of "milk paint" --in powder form--i brought it home but haven't used it yet--will have to see what it is for--crafts or house painting?

i wish i could have spent more time but there was a plane to catch--it would really take 2 days to get the most out of it--

~40 miles south. I've attended a few of the green festivals in SF. They are usually packed and it's hard to move around. I'm waiting to see the speaker lineup.
The SF green festival is usually in November.

Last year there was a booth showing motor oil and machine lubricants made from plant oils/waxes that could replace the petrol based ones in your car. Unfortunately these are not available to the consumer yet. The whole supply is purchased by the military. Not sure if this due to short supply or other issues.

There were a lot of booths with hemp products (the fibre hemp without the THC, not the "other" variety!). The clothing material was nice, but I most of the available styles were targeted towards teenagers and very young persons. It will be interesting to see if they have branched out.

lots of the styles were for young people--i guess in san fran the styles would fit in with anyone--glad to hear the military is using the oil substitute--maybe they will work out the bugs before we get it--the convention i was at had a lot of people but the building was so huge that it gave plenty of room to move around- i guess the good thing is that it is popular

LOL! SF has more than tie-dyed hippies you know. :)
It would be nice to see the sustainable fibres used for a wide range of clothing styles.

Oh I love those houses. I only saw one that wasn't my bag, but I would have gladly taken it.
