Ours seems to be $125 a week. I use a list but don't fancy coupons, why would you when you buy 75% of your items generic to start with. That's for 2 adults, 1 toddler, includes all items like diapers/toiletries, etc. I'd like to shrink it but really don't see where I can nip and tuck it?
We buy mostly generic like I said---for canned & frozen goods, breads----but name brand for cold cereals (usually), milk, store brand meats, etc.
We don't eat much meat. No beef, occassionally some frozen fish fillets but mostly buy 1 whole chicken a month to shred the meat, about 3 packs a month soy crumbles instead of ground meat (16 oz for 2 bucks), pork MAYBE once a month (chops or a roast).
Just wondering how other parents have nipped the budget some. I used to know prices of things as I'd add them up in my head from the list. Now I just take the list, buy the items on it and have no idea what the items are really going for these days.
