We are on a lake (lots of shady pines and sandy soil) and do not create lawns or tend them. Just mow as needed. But there is one spot along the screen porch that is very poor soil that I would like to seed to get enough root growth as to vut down on dirt blowing on the porch when it is windy. It's an area about 12 feet long and 2-3 feet wide and to have it wind up with spotty grass would be fine (pretty much what the rest of the property is). Right now it's just thin dirt with a few renegade weeds. Will mixing in peat moss and lime help improve the soil (without harming the lake) and any recommendations on soil improvement and seed is appreciated. We'd like to avoid bringing in top soil because of the difficulty of the location.
