Last summer I had a double purple datura that was lovely. I received the plant from the Desert Museum at a plant sale at TBG. The winter of 06/07 must've been milder than usual because the original plant never froze back so the blooms came from that plant. I allowed it to go to seed in the original spot and this year all I have is a plant that's more sprawling with huge single white blooms with purple tinges around the edges. The original plant grew more upright. I'm wondering what happened. Why didn't I get the more upright plant with the double blooms this year? I know some of you have unusual, double daturas so I wondered if any of you have had the same problem. I don't have a photo yet of the single blooms from this year, they're all closed right now in the heat of day but I'll send a photo of the original plant with blooms.
