The front of my house faces east and gets the morning sun. Flies use the light grey siding and porch area to take advantage of the warm early morning sun. The siding and white vinyl porch rails, and grey vinyl chairs are covered with tiny black specs of fly poop. I think we have tried every type of super cleaner known to man including those Mr. Clean sponge type things and kerosine. All I have succeeded in doing is dulling the finish where I have tried to clean. The poop doesn't budge. Does anybody have a solution for this. I am sure I am not the only one with this cleaning problem as flies are everywhere.

I have found the answer. It is not fly dirt on my siding. It is mold spores from the wood mulch around the house foundation. Unfortunately it is just about impossible to remove.

If it's mold spores, you might try bleach, that'll at least take the color away. I don't think a diluted solution of bleach would discolor the siding itself but you might test on a small area first just to make sure.

JoMax - just follow the directions.

Used to powerwash - lots of work, and the mold came back in 6-9 months. Heard about JoMax - finally bought some and a huge bottle of bleach - mixed according to directions in a pump-up sprayer - instantly melted the mold - both green and black (which is green gone bad, so to speak). Some required a VERY little help with a soft bristle brush, but its all gone now. Just plain water rinse to finish the job.

The JoMax seems to make the bleach adhere better and activates it.

Both Lowe's and Home Depot have it.

I use baking soda and a scrub brush. I find it works well for me without harming the plants against my house.
