I have a good size 8 - 10 year old peony that has failed to even come up this year. There are tiny buds where it is maybe trying but that is all. I found a lot of pill/sow bugs around it last week and drenched the soil with an insecticide. Put an old bike wheel over it to keep critters from nibbling on it. What might have caused it to not sprout normally? Are the pill/sow bugs really damaging it? I thought they only eat decaying material.
